For over 25 years, our CEO Rachael Heald has been immersed in the world of breeding and producing performance horses at the highest level. Whether it’s preparing a young horse for its first outing or refining a seasoned competitor’s performance in preparation for HOYS or an International, she understands the demands we ask of our equine partners and the care needed to meet them. 

Like many others in the industry, she faced the constant frustration of supplement companies over-promising and under-delivering, offering little real benefit to the horse — all while charging a premium for products that rarely lived up to their marketing claims.

In August 2024, Rachael brought her vision to life and created Equell with the support of leading nutritionists, industry experts, and a strong belief that horses and their owners deserve better. Together they meticulously designed Equell’s range of supplements, selecting every ingredient for its specific health benefit and ensuring each formula was tailored to the needs of performance horses. 

Rachael had a simple but powerful goal: to provide supplements that genuinely support the health and performance of horses in all disciplines. To create products that owners and trainers could trust—without compromise. No cutting corners, unnecessary ingredients or marketing tricks. Every ingredient included in relevant amounts, not simply to stack the ingredients list. 

From day one, our mission has been simple: to create honest, effective supplements that genuinely support equine health. “I am passionate about horses, our sport and even more so about this industry. Equell is the culmination of years of experience and trials on our own diverse range of horses. We know what works and what doesn’t and we are proud to be able to share that knowledge with you now through this wonderful range of supplements. Every product has been tested on our own horses first – because we wouldn’t expect you to use anything we wouldn’t feed ourselves. 

We have had horses post surgery using Ultraflex for joint maintenance with great success, horses with gastric discomfort whose behaviour has changed unrecognisably on UlcerAid and one horse who was in so much respiratory distress that we considered putting her down (all veterinary routes having failed) that is now back jumping on UltraAir. Our horse’s just love being the guinea pigs, they can’t wait for the next Equell product to try!! All of them get Güt Food in their daily feeds and the shine on their coat as a sign of their inner vitality is clear to see.
