Ulceraid - Targeted gastric supplement for horses
A high strength formula designed to deliver targeted gastric and total digestive support, utilising clinically proven gelling agents lecithin & pectin to help coat, soothe and support the squamous stomach lining. We include natural ingredients for acid ease and to maintain healthy PH balance, as well as pre/postbiotics, MOS and Betaglucans for optimal hindgut health - helping manage the daily digestive stress experienced by performance horses. Key amino acids and antioxidants glutamine, arginine and natural vitamin E help support the body’s natural anti-inflammatory pathways, maintain gut lining integrity and aid cell regeneration. Maintaining gastric comfort keeps your horse eating, training and feeling their best.
Trusted and used by vets, 5* eventers, nations cup showjumpers and Team GB dressage riders.
Ideal for horses:
- Showing signs of gastric discomfort (e.g., girthiness, reduced appetite, poor behaviour under saddle, bloating)
- In regular work, especially intense training or travel
- On restricted forage or increased cereal/starch diets
- Experiencing gastric discomfort and safe to feed during/after veterinary treatment for gastric ulcers
“One of my horses started to show signs of irritability when tacking up. Those have disappeared since being on UlcerAid. He’s so much happier, put on condition and has a lovely shine to his coat. Would highly recommend.” Alex Hill, verified customer
What makes Ulceraid different:
- Supports delicate stomach mucosa
- Aids with PH maintenance
- Maintains integrity of gut lining
- Contains prebiotic fibres & postbiotics for optimal hindgut health
- Supports the immune system and the stress response through natural antioxidants and postbiotics
Key Features of Ulceraid:
Pectin + Lecithin Complex - This combination forms a gel-like layer over the stomach lining. Lecithin supports the stomach’s natural mucus barrier which is designed to prevent acid splash, while pectin’s inherent viscosity helps it stay in place. High inclusion rates offers prolonged, soothing coverage in acidic conditions to manage gastric sensitivity and maintain mucosal/gut lining integrity.
Helps maintain PH - natural gastric buffer shown in clinical studies to help maintain PH balance, used for acid ease instead of calcium or magnesium which may upset the horse’s mineral balance when fed at high levels long term.
L Glutamine - supports the health and resilience of the gut lining, helping to maintain normal barrier function, nutrient uptake and immune activity during digestive challenge.
Lysine and methionine - contribute to normal protein synthesis and tissue maintenance of gut lining
L-Arginine - contributes to nitric oxide production, which helps regulate blood flow to digestive tissues and supports mucosal cell function, healthy digestion and metabolic function.
Source of beta-glucans, MOS, prebiotics and postbiotics - supporting immune health, microbial balance and gut lining integrity against harmful bacteria invasion.
Rich in Antioxidants - (incl. Vitamin E and Grapeseed) to help combat oxidative stress in the stomach and digestive tract - supporting tissue integrity, recovery and overall gastric health, especially in horses under physical or metabolic strain.
Natural ingredients rich in mucilage form a soothing gel in the gut to support mucosal integrity whilst also acting as a prebiotic fibre for beneficial hindgut bacteria, helping to maintain digestive resilience and nutrient absorption.
Additional Benefits
- Natural acid-buffering ingredients – help to maintain optimal PH, without suppressing natural digestive function.
- Highly palatable – natural ingredients encourage intake, even in fussy eaters or those off their feed.
- Gut–brain axis support – can indirectly benefit behaviour through added prebiotics and postbiotics - supporting digestive comfort.
- BETA NOPS and UFAS accredited

FAQ’s
Is Ulceraid safe to feed for horses prone to ulcers? – Ulceraid is designed to support a healthy gastric environment and contains mucilage rich ingredients that help to coat and soothe the delicate stomach and digestive lining.
Does Ulceraid contain prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics? – Ulceraid contains prebiotics and postbiotics. We don’t add bacteria (probiotics) to this blend because it is intended to feed your horse’s existing gut colony and allow them to thrive! A healthy hindgut produces adequate levels of their own postbiotics so there is no need to add additional probiotics if the good bacterial colonies are healthy. You can read more on pre, pro and postbiotics here.
Do I need Gut Food and Ulceraid for hindgut health? – Gut Food contains a wider variety of natural prebiotic fibres and so works brilliantly in combination with Ulceraid, but Ulceraid does contain prebiotics and postbiotics for hindgut health so you can feed alone if preferred. Some customers start on Ulceraid and progress to Gut Food for long term maintenance when their horse is in a good place.
My horse only gets a handful of feed, will they eat it? - Our products are naturally based so horses find them very palatable! Introduce gradually, starting with 1/4 scoop mixed into dampened feed twice daily. All Equell products are backed by a palatability guarantee so you can return for a refund if they won’t eat it.
How soon will I see results? - most customers see changes in their horse or pony within the first 14 days, from better dropping formation, reduced girthiness, to coat shine and healthy condition.
Is it safe to give competition horses? - Equell is BETA NOPS and UFAS accredited, making Ulceraid suitable for horses competing under rules by reducing the risk of prohibited substances entering out products.
What are the signs of ulcers in horses? - Common signs include reduced appetite, girthiness, behavioural changes, poor performance, lacklustre condition and weight loss. Veterinary diagnosis is required for confirmation and only medication approved by vets can be used for treatment.
Can supplements help horses prone to ulcers? - Many owners and riders choose gastric supplements to help maintain a healthy stomach mucosa and gut wall lining as well as supporting hindgut balance.
